Ways to Motivate Yourself To Exercise

Exercising; Something we all know we should do, but actually finding the motivation to get up and go can be difficult.
So, I decided to write this post to on how I motivate myself to work out, and hopefully it will motivate you also!

 Get Up and Get Dressed

If you like working out in the mornings, as soon as you wake up, put on your workout gear. Lay out your clothes the night before and just put them on without even thinking about it.

Personally, if I work out, I like doing it in the mornings, but a lot of times I procrastinate hard. I do anything and everything to avoid exercising and then before I know it, its 1p.m and I just tell myself I'll try again tomorrow.
So, what I started doing is just waking up, and putting on my shorts and sports bra first thing because then I have no excuse. I have nothing I need to do to "get ready" (I work out at home by the way) and so far, it's been working.
If you like working out in the evenings, or after work, put on your gym clothes as soon as you get home. You may be tired, but trust me, it will motivate you to do even a little bit of exercise.

Also, if you do have time in the mornings, I highly recommend doing some type of exercise as soon as you get up. That is when you are the most motivated and doing so will definitely improve your day.

Get Clothes You Feel Good In

What I did when I wanted to start working out again was buy new clothes that I felt confident in, and that I actually liked.
Feeling good in what you wear is important for any type of occasion, including hitting the gym. If you feel confident, you are more likely to want to do things and to show off in a sense, but also, you will just look forward to wearing your new clothes, which will then motivate you.

I actually really love all types of fitness clothing, from hoodies to new shoes, and I know that work out clothes can get so expensive, so when I feel like I need to update my wardrobe, I visit M and M Direct which has big brands like Nike and Adidas for up to 75% off retail price, so make sure to check it out here, when your wardrobe needs a refresher.

Watch Work Out Videos/Health Based Videos

Many of us are subscribed to at least one 'Fitness' Youtuber or if not, then look some up and subscribe. I find that after I watching fitness or healthy eating/recipe videos on Youtube and/or Instagram, I am a lot more motivated to work out.

There are a ton of men and women who have channels dedicated solely to fitness based content, you just need to find one that suits your goals and your needs the best.

Two of my current favorites are Chloe Ting and Stephi Nguyen. I highly recommend both of these women for the ones who rather exercise in the comfort their home or who want relatively "easy" routines, that will give you the figure of your dreams and still make you break a sweat.

For me, they are the easiest to follow along to, great for beginners and more advanced individuals, because like with anything, you can add more weights or reps. Their routines can also be done in the gym if you rather that and they both have videos targeted towards each area of the body, like legs, abs and butt.

Go To The Gym With Friends

Call up your best friends and drag them to he gym with you or better yet, if you have any friends that already do go to the gym, ask if you can tag along.
Working out with friends isn't for everyone because if you're with a good friend, you're bound to get distracted, however, if you need a little kick in the butt, or if you aren't too comfortable going along, a bringing a friend along will make all the difference, at least until you are ready to hit the treadmill on your own.

Be Your Own Hype-Man

You know you feel amazing after a good workout. You know you feel like you are on top of the world, and no one can do anything to knock you down. You know this feeling and you love it, but you forget it. So, what you need to do is hype yourself up, tell yourself how amazing you will feel and tell yourself you will have the body of your dreams at the end of all of the struggle. Just stand in front of the mirror and say every positive, motivational thing that pops into your head!
You can do it, and you will feel incredible!

Just Go!

If all else fails, just jump in your car, and go. Literally just walk out of your house and go.
A lot of times we just think too much. We think about putting on the clothes, packing a bag, getting out of the house, blah blah blah, but if you just do it, take it one step at a time and don't think about whats ahead, you will be more likely to just go through with it.
Or, if you work out at home, like me, just stand up, and start moving. Put on the video you will be following, or just take out your equipment and just move.

Also, just keep your work out gear, like clothing and equipment, in sight all the time as a reminder that it's something you need to do.

I really hope you guys find the motivation to hit the gym or work out at home, because there really is nothing better then the feeling you get after you know you have done good by your body!

Thank you for reading!
